The New Video AquariumReviewsA waste of money. Very few fish - single tank in each of two segments. A High school kid could do better. You would be better off buying "Aquaria - The Complete Aquarium Collection" for about the same amount of money. Also, read the customers' reviews not the reviews by those involved with this project. I am very disappointed. Which it had more tanks, but love the living reef tank. Looks good on my big screen Sony TV. I couldn't believe that previous reviewers gave this DVD only 1 star!!! Be fair! I ordered this video expecting a variety of aquariums and fishes. This is shot from a single aquarium which has only a few fishes. It looks like the video is shot using a tripod from an aquarium which any kid can do. The video is just converted to a DVD format(The print on the Disk says that). For this money it is a real waste for home viewing. May be good for TV/DVD sales shops for display purpose. Image quality is fair at best, and the view is too close up, should have pulled back some. Others are much better and MUCH cheaper in price! Average Rating:![]() |

Virtual AquariumReviewsThe scene shown on the box is *not* the scene on the DVD. The actual scene (although it is in HD) is much less colorful. It also seems like the video is on a fairly short loop because you see the same fish doing the same thing over and over again. The music is so-so, there are much better ambient CDs if that is what you are looking for. Caution on this one, just got it in the mail and it has only one aquarium scene a freshwater scene. NOT a saltwater one as pictured on the box, and even the freshwater scene is not that great anyways. If your into suthing music buy it for that. 8 different tracks for one lousy scene and the pic is not to great either. There are other DVD's out there for a better price and content. Marine Aquarium (Special Collectors Edition) [Blu-ray]ReviewsIt is surely a great production given different view of aquarium. As many review have already stated the best usage for this video is to run it on your tv to emulate a live tropical aquarium right on your tv. Picture is clear, and each clip changes from dim lighted to fully expose lighting is great. I personally think it will be better if the video can zoom out a bit more since most people are purchasing 46, 52 plus inch TV nowadays and fish would look more into prospective instead of BIG Nemo swing across your TV. Video seems to just taken shots at center point of the aquarium with plenty of room left over left and right (because the fishes just pass by your screen and some never return). I would love to have a zoom out clip to give a fuller prospective of the aquarium. But again I am satisfied at the quality over all. Gets boring after about 2 minutes. Its nice if you want to pretend to have a fishtank!! I have many aquarium ... this one is by far the best I have ever seen - breath taking!! Also what I like is that each film has a very good length and does not loop as soon as they normally do. Realy great buy - I can fully recommend. Just a video camera placed on a tripod in front of the glass of a local aquarium. Only average video quality, poor composition and production. If you want something more than a screen saver get Visions of the Sea Explorations by HD Scape. I was very disappointed with this blue-ray. it does nothing. there are three stills of fish life, basically turning your tv into a lame fish tank. i thought it was a show about fish, not a still. i read the description too quickly, but even after going back to see what i missed, it wasn't that clear. NO WONDER this was discounted. TOTALLY UTTERLY lame. Average Rating:![]() |

Naked FishReviewsI really like this DVD. I was disappointed with previous DVD aquariums I bought, so it was good to find this one. The tanks are brightly colored, the fish are cute, and the picture quality is very good. You can choose between regular aspect and widescreen, and 3 soundtracks (2 classical and one natural aquarium). The video switches from a static view to following different fish so it's not boring. You can watch all the 5 tanks in order or set your favorite one to loop. It's fun and relaxing to watch, and well worth the money. I only wish it were longer! I actually went to a party where this was playing and it was the coolest thing. The picture was crystal clear and the fish were beautiful. It was such a great idea to play while you are entertaining, it provides some awesome scenes & the music was turned down low so it worked with the party atmosphere as well. This was an impulse purchase for me. I have to admit it's not a bad pick. You can put it on and set to repeat and you have 5 different fish tanks and it never gets boring. The tank is crystal clear. I actually sat thru the whole 65 min to watch it the first time thru with a friend. It really was fun picking out fish and watching them do what fish do, talking about it. The DVD gives you a choice of 2 different music options and a natural tank sound. The only reason I rated it 4 stars instead of 5 is that when the music plays it has a tendency to play the same piece over and over. We also caught a couple of repeat scenes in the total time in a couple of the tanks. But all in all it's a really good DVD. After a rough day at work it will do the trick to relax you. Next to having your own tank this is a good substitute. Average Rating:![]() |

Plasmaquarium Aquarium DVD (Shot in HD)ReviewsAlthough this is a good idea... the picture quality is not the best. More background would be desired. I do like the fact that you can select natural sounds or have a variation of music to select. My preference is the natural sounds. Fun - Get a lot of remarks on how cool it looks - you'll like it. This DVD is great, it is very clear and has lots of options and different fish tank scenes. I only wish they would zoom out a little, the shot is fixed on one section of the tank which gives the illusion of a larger area because the fish swim in and out of the frame but on the 61" plasma its on in my office the fish are the size of my head (which is big) so its not as realistic as it could be. I think it would look more realistic (as far as fish size) on a 37" or smaller TV. Of all the scenes it has its missing the sunken pirate ship with bubbling treasure chest scene, I men come on this is supposed to be an aquarium right? Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R3QSBK5DEQ9TD5 Here is a sample of the NINE aquarium tanks on the Plasmaquarium Vol. I DVD. I absolutely love this DVD!!! I really like the fact that the tropical fish are "up close and personal" with sharp, contrasting backgrounds - it makes them so vibrant and impressive on our HD plasma screen TV. To me it is so much more striking and artistic and beautiful than fish tank scenes that have tons of smaller fish and backgrounds with so many plants and coral and other stuff. I find this DVD and the music that goes with it enormously relaxing and addicting in the best possible way. I have also found that it is very enticing to the younger children in my family who are into Nemo. Gets their attention and then calms them down at nap or bedtime, which if you are a parent or grandparent you can really appreciate. Our cats love this DVD too, although, they just don't have a very long attention span and prefer real fish! Average Rating:![]() |

Hermit Crab Care (Quick & Easy)ReviewsAnswers a lot of questions, quick & easy to read w/many pictures. Would highly recommend it for anyone interested in hermit crabs or w/a hermit crab pet. My oldest daughter (3) brings it to school frequently to show everyone the pictures - she's learned a lot from it - so far it's a good substitute for the crab. A good basic book. Very little detail on day to day. More than I wanted to know about reproduction. B&W photos do not do much to make the little crabs look attractive. Average Rating:![]() |

Tropical FishReviewsOK, it has a few nice pictures and one or two details that are of use to a first time aquarist but over all, it is of little help to anyone sensible enough to have done a small amount of research. The author is strongly opinionated and will preach rather than teach, especially when it comes to situations, species or topics he would appear to have little experience himself with. An example is when writing of fish suitable for a tank, he will relate all sorts of horror stories about his least favourite species and instead of suggesting methods for overcoming potential problems, he will admonish the reader to avoid that species of fish. This may not be a bad thing for a beginner, but there are few problems with keeping fish that cannot be easily overcome by a little research and sensible advice following, but the author of this book does not seem to advocate this approach and rather directs readers to follow his own advice as though he is the final opinion on any fish-keeping matter. My copy now resides in the local charity book shop after a single reading. I doubt they'll get a dollar for it. There is no reason to buy or keep this book when there are far better alternatives for even the most clueless beginner. Average Rating:![]() |

Curious George at the AquariumReviewsWe like Curious George, but this story seems a little forced. It isn't simple and cute like some of the others we like (Curious George goes to the Zoo, Curious George and the Pizza). It is very wordy and kind of confusing because the pictures don't really match what is happening. I don't usually give books a bad review, but even my son doesn't ask me to read this one that often. I love Curious George, but this book is just poorly written. It's written by Anderson, not Margret and H.A. Rey, and the style is disjointed and odd. The pictures are good and my daughter still enjoys it, but we thought it was an original Rey book when we bought it. Not hardly. Along with Clifford and Biscuit books, my 4 yr old grandson loves all the Curious George books, including this one. They are great for him and any children just learning to read. My 2 year old grandson enjoys the this and other Curious George stories. He would like to have them all. Great for read-a-loud. Curious George is one of my favorites. As a school teacher, I read this as well as other Curious George favorites to my class. Average Rating:![]() |

The New Marine Aquarium: Step-By-Step Setup & Stocking GuideReviewsChock full of excellent advice, descriptions, and photos. Covers all the basics and then goes into more detail. Excellent read before you start and a very good reference as you grow your hobby. Very good book. We also purchased the "Complete Idiot's Guide . . . " which is much more helpful for a tank setup. I would have to say that this book is out dated and the info it does offer is very basic. would be ok for someone with just a passing interest in the hobby. But if you plan to set up a full reef I would look else were This book will serve as a great start in learning the basics of setting up a saltwater aquarium. However the book left me with wanting to know more. After reading this book did not feel I had all the necessary knowledge to start my tank. I just converted my freshwater 55g tank into a saltwater one. This book is a great reference book, providing lots of information on different fish, invertebrates, etc. including their aggressiveness and size. Glad I bought it! Average Rating:![]() |

Aquarium Corals : Selection, Husbandry, and Natural HistoryReviewsIm a newbie when it comes to Marine. But this Book is the Ultimate Book when you want to learn about all types of CORALS!!! I highly recommend this book and the amount you paid is nothing compared to the contents of this book... Well done! Reads like a college level text book. Very informative, very well thought out. Had good pics as well. Would most definitely recommend to a friend, actually already have recommended to a friend. Get it if you want to learn more about caring for corals. Eric's Borneman's CORALS is an excellent resource for the advanced and beginner hobbyist alike. It provides beautiful photos and detailed descriptions of corals in their native habitat as well as their place in our aquariums. The information is as up to date as you could hope from any book and the information invaluable. It's neatly organized and makes great use of it's large glossary which makes it's an easy and education read. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in a reef aquarium or corals in general. It is easily my favorite aquarium book and most referenced. This book defintely lived up to my expectations. Lots of photos, captions, and detailed descriptions. Not only is this book the most informative I have found but there are so many photos to reference. I would recommend to everyone that wants to keep a reef aquarium to add to your library. Well worth the price. Average Rating:![]() |
