This isn't a bad book, but I still preferred Jorge Cervantes Marijuana Horticulture book. It's just a better all around reference. This book tries to be a reference but also tries to teach how to get your first grow going and simply has too much information for the beginning. Frankly, I know the science is important, but its not critical to getting a good crop. I don't grow for my livelihood, just for my own medicine and I don't have the time to read a college level book to get the job done. The other book that got me started was Grow Great Marijuana, which is like a dummies book and helped me get the basics down. Once I got things up and running, I referred to that book and the marijuana horticulture book by Jorge. The grow bible has much of the same info, more or less, but I preferred the style of the other two books. One to learn and one to reference.

The new second edition is *finally* a worthy replacement for the old Mel Frank and Ed Rosenthal volume, Marijuana Grower's Guide Deluxe: Revised Color Edition. One big complaint: it STILL lacks good nutrient deficiency photos. Nobody has this, not even Marijuana Garden Saver: Handbook for Healthy Plants (!). Why? Take a healthy plant, deprive it of one nutrient and show us some damn photos! That aside, this one edges out the new Rosenthal book. (And I happen to think the first Rosenthal book held the number one spot since the fourth edition came out in '97.) In the first edition, Green was struggling with how to present genetics. One suspects he had trouble grasping the fundamentals himself. This time 'round it's much better--even better presentation than parts of his Breeders' Bible. I can't wait for the third edition of the Grow Bible and the Second of the Breeders' Bible. (I would really like to see a more in-depth look at sexual expression; this is a tricky topic for this plant and information on it is hard to find). Alas! The grow bible is a book on the basics of growing nothing more. Its chapters are very short and I found some of the info to be inaccurate and most of the book is just opinion, not facts. The majority of its content is pictures not educational info. It has a horrible deficency table, definently not for the experienced grower. If you are looking to buy a good book I would suggest Jorge Cervantes medical bible if you havent already read it. This book is better used as kindling.

an excellent update to an already good book. i am using it in my Cannabis Horticulture course.

I got this book two days after ordering it with free shipping. As for the book itself, it is very comprehensive and I would recommend it to anyone who would like to learn about cannabis horticulture or who wishes to grow marijuana. I have read four books about marijuana horticulture and this is in the top two. Buy it thank me later.

Great reading. Just was a new gardener who is trying out herbs needs to get started. Very happy with product and very happy with timely delivery and with the seller.

this was more of a cookbook then a book on growing herbs. it did touch on some goog basics but did not cover a lot of herbs.

The only drawback to this book is that many herbs are not included. If you are really interested in encycolpedia coverage of herbs, you will need to supplement this with another book. But, there are still over 50 herbs covered, and covered well here and all of the most common varieties are here. The book is easy to understand and very helpful when it comes to understanding the herbs and the conditions they need to grow so you can be sucessful. Many herb books spend too much time focusing on remedies and recipies - which will do you no good if you aren't sucessful growing the herb in the first place. The book also covers many general gardening tips, including both ground and container gardening. There are some crafts/recipies/remedies in here, and they are good, but the focus of the book is on growing herbs. Once you grow your herbs this book can be handy in coming up with gifts for people using your herb garden. While I wish more herbs were covered, I admit I have an exhaustive curiousity and most or all of the ones I would actually grow are included here. The book is clear and easy to understand, and I think even a novice gardener could be sucessful with this book. Highly recommended!

This book is very beautifully made, and at the same time very interesting and informative: lots of useful info about planting and growing herbs, using them for various cooking, cosmetic, home styling and other purposes. It's a pleasure to just flick through the pages, the book is very pretty and would make a nice gift to someone who loves herbs and gardening.

For not knowing anything about herbs and growing them, I praise this book. Easy to find information. Covers a vast number of herbs, edible and non edible. Has info about how to use the herbs for cooking. How to grow them and where. My basil is three feet tall and bushy. It has been very helpful and my herb garden thanks you.

This book is a MUST for growers or people interested in the history of Marijuana in the U.S. It is interesting and informative, great illustrations, and Ed Rosenthal is one of the best leading authorities on the subject.

this is by FAR!!!the best book on the subject so far....love it, if you get one book on growing you have to get this one. I own Jorge Cervantes medical marajuana grow book, Soma's book and a few others and this one is the one. You won't be disappointed.

I received Ed's latest book in the mail on Monday, "The Marijuana Growers Handbook". I finally got a chance to sit-down with it last night. I Love It! Ed, Jane and all the folks at Quick Trading have put together the single best resource I have ever seen! It's an extremely well crafted and thought out book. These guys do it better than anyone! Everything flows easily from one section to the next, it's beautifully written with hundreds of stunning images and illustrations. Ed has penned this book with the average reader in mind. Starting with his easy to understand, detailed explanations of some very complex science, this is Book will be the standard by which all others are measured. Buy this book! You won't be disappointed, its the best value out there. The Growers Handbook is filled with everything you need to know about gardening - not to mention, its a good read! With Ed's laid back writing style and attention to detail. This "how To Book" becomes a hard to put down all in one resource material. I've only had my copy for a week and already I've refrenced it so many times that I'm thinking I should have a second copy! if I keep it up, this book will folded, spindled, dogeared and highlited into shreds before the end of this summer!. Marijuana Growers Handbook is for everyone - from the beginner to the professional. If I could have only one book in my library giving me the skills necessary for the successful cultivation of Cannabis, this would be it!

It's not so much the text that gives a thorough understanding on this subject as is the illustrations and photos. Studying this book will make anyone a junior field expert. Mr. Rosenthal is definetly an expert in this field. If you can here his audio interviews (if you can find them) they are even more enriching.

ed finally did it, i have been reading his books for years, but finally an easy to read bible with all the stuff you need to grow sticky nugs. atmosphere, varieties, humidity, lighting. cloning, curing many different systems that all work, really a masterpiece.this is not a compilation of previous books, the ganja guru has started from scratch. this is by far the best yet on the subject. A MUST HAVE BOOK
